制作発表と声優陣の公開
Playground Productionsがサンディエゴ・コミコンで『Backyard Sports: The Animated Series』の制作を発表した。1997年から続く2Dアーケードスポーツゲームのキャラクターたちが、野球場をはじめとする近所のスポーツの場に再び集まるファミリー向けアニメーションだ。
Tiffany HaddishがKiesha Phillips、Donald FaisonがDante Robinson、Christopher Mintz-PlasseがDmitri Petrovichの声を担当する。Arturo CastroはPablo Sanchez、Utkarsh AmbudkarはAchmed Khanを演じ、Deborah Baker Jr.、Michael Vlamis、Ashleigh Crystal Hairstonらも参加する。
Chris Watersがショーランナーを、Juston Gordon-Montgomeryが総監督を務める。Adam AserafとSarah Nevada Smithが主席脚本家兼共同エグゼクティブプロデューサーとして参加し、Playground Productionsが制作、Lighthouse Studiosがアニメーション制作を担当する。
シリーズは1話約11分の全20話として制作中だ。公開プラットフォームとスケジュールは発表されていないため、任意の日付は記載していない。また、従来配給会社とされていたPlayground Productionsは、実際の役割に合わせて制作会社へ変更した。
