Snowed In, Fort Up: First Look at Hulu's 'Bob's Burgers' Holiday Short

A record Christmas blizzard means more for the Belchers than transportation or business problems. In On the Fort Day of Christmas, Tina, Gene, and Louise see the snow as the perfect material for building a “record-breaking Christmas snow fort.” Turning an ordinary weather event into the children’s own massive scheme is the starting point for this holiday short.

This is a separately released short, not a full-length episode or a new season. Series creator and executive producer Loren Bouchard announced the short during a Comic-Con panel, with H. Jon Benjamin, John Roberts, Dan Mintz, Eugene Mirman, Kristen Schaal, and Larry Murphy participating. The voice cast from the existing series, centered on a family-run hamburger restaurant, remains intact.

Its release format is also distinct from the regular FOX schedule. In the United States, it will premiere on Hulu and for Hulu on Disney+ bundle subscribers on December 7, 2026, while it is expected to be available on Disney+ in most international markets. The regular Season 17 is planned to return to FOX in 2027, making this short a standalone Christmas story that fills the gap between seasons.

20th Television Animation, which produced the short, is focusing on the children’s perspective as they expand the blizzard into a grand adventure. Its simple premise, pitting the scale of the snowfall against the scale of the snow fort, aligns with the way Bob's Burgers has turned small everyday events into family-comedy rivalries and uproar.
