The Toughest Mission for Siblings Who Have Moved

The Cat in *The Cat in the Hat* is an agent of the Institute for Imagination and Inspiration, I.I.I.I., tasked with entertaining Gabby and Sebastian, siblings struggling to adjust after moving to a new city. He is accustomed to bringing joy to children, but this is the most difficult mission he has ever taken on. The tension comes from the fact that, because of his tendency to make things far bigger than they need to be, failure could even cost him his magic hat.

Bringing a Familiar Character into a New Adventure

Based on Dr. Seuss's book, this film marks the Cat's animated feature-film debut. Bill Hader voices the Cat, with Matt Berry, Quinta Brunson, Xochitl Gomez, Giancarlo Esposito, and America Ferrera also joining the voice cast. Rather than repeating the original story's rainy-day mischief, this adaptation distinguishes itself by centering on the Cat's mission and the two children's struggle with the upheaval of moving.

Warner Bros. Pictures Animation's First Feature

Erica Rivinoja and Alessandro Carloni co-directed and co-wrote the film, with Caroline Williams writing the story. It is being produced as the first feature film from Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, with Warner Bros. Pictures handling worldwide distribution. The North American theatrical and IMAX release is set for November 6, 2026, while the international rollout is scheduled to begin on November 4.
