A Story Continuing as Animation 12 Years After the Film

*TED: The Animated Series* is a sequel to the films *Ted* and *Ted 2*. Set 12 years after the events of the final film, the story begins with Ted and John, now each with families of their own, living as neighbors. The two face the struggles of making a living and the challenges of adulthood, such as marriage and raising children, but their long-standing relationship of encouraging each other’s bad ideas remains unchanged.

Original Film Actors Return as Voice Cast

Seth MacFarlane returns as the series’ co-creator and the voice of Ted. Mark Wahlberg reprises his role as John, Amanda Seyfried as John’s wife Sam, and Jessica Barth as Ted’s wife Tami-Lynn. Kyle Mooney’s Apollo and Liz Richman’s Ruth also join the regular cast, adding new dimensions to the relationships between the characters after the films.

A Different Timeline from the Live-Action Prequel

While Peacock’s live-action series *ted* was a prequel about teenage John and Ted in the 1990s, this series continues into adulthood after the conclusion of the films. In other words, within the same franchise, it explores the next chapter of the protagonists’ lives as they navigate family and neighborhood relationships, this time in animated form. The first eight episodes will premiere on Peacock on December 17, 2026, with additional episodes scheduled for 2027.
