* A Couple of Lies* is the story of two couples who swap their homes in the Stockholm archipelago and a villa in Sicily for several weeks. Helene and Carl head to the home of Scarlett and Adam, whom they have never met, and the small traces left behind in both spaces turn their original vacation plans into unease. The sunlight of Sicily and the tranquility of the Stockholm archipelago create entirely different tensions within the same exchange agreement.
The Rules of an Exchange That Tests Trust
Swapping homes is not simply a matter of moving from one place to another; it becomes a choice to step into another person’s private life and the gaps in their relationship. The two couples discover unsettling clues in each other’s homes, and amid a game woven with surveillance, manipulation, and distrust, they find it difficult to trust not only the other couple but also the person beside them. The central conflict of the series is that a getaway meant to repair relationships instead exposes concealed betrayals.
A Psychological Thriller Condensed into Four Episodes
The series is based on Stefan Ahnhem’s novel of the same name and directed by Kasper Barfoed. Emma Appleton, Fares Fares, Frida Gustavsson, and Jakob Oftebro play the central figures of the two couples. Rather than expanding the story like a full-length season, the four-part limited series closely follows the suspicions and cracks in the relationships that emerge after the exchange.
Netflix announced that the series will be released worldwide on October 30, 2026.
