Man of Tomorrow Set for North American Release on July 9, 2027
James Gunn's DCU follow-up to Superman, in which Superman and Lex Luthor reluctantly team up against Brainiac, opens in North America on July 9, 2027.
〈Man of Tomorrow〉(Man of Tomorrow) is the fourth film in the DC Universe (DCU), following James Gunn’s 〈Superman〉(2025). It follows Superman and Lex Luthor as they reluctantly join forces to confront a greater threat: Brainiac, a superintelligent alien android.
James Gunn wrote and directed the film and is producing it with Peter Safran at DC Studios. David Corenswet (Superman) and Nicholas Hoult (Lex Luthor) return, along with Rachel Brosnahan, Edi Gathegi, Nathan Fillion, and Isabela Merced. Brainiac is played by Lars Eidinger. Lex Luthor’s battle suit will make its first appearance in a live-action film.
Filming took place from April through August 2026 in the United States, primarily at Trilith Studios in Atlanta, as well as in the United Kingdom and Cincinnati. Gunn described the film as the next chapter in the “Superman saga,” rather than a direct sequel.
Distributed by Warner Bros., it will be released in North America on July 9, 2027, with an IMAX release expected. The South Korean release date has not been announced.
