Wonka's The Golden Ticket is a Netflix reality series in which 12 Golden Ticket winners and one companion chosen by each enter a chocolate factory and compete. Rather than simply touring the facility, the contestants must pass through games, trials, and temptations unfolding throughout the factory. It premieres on September 23, 2026, with the finale released in two parts on September 30.
The Ticket Is Only an Entry Pass
The series begins with the Golden Ticket featured in Roald Dahl's 『Charlie and the Chocolate Factory』. However, the ticket is only the start of the competition. The contestants must demonstrate adaptability, strategy, and crisis-management skills through challenges that test their physical, mental, and moral judgment, and ultimately only one person will win the prize.
A Game for 12 Teams, Not 12 People
The key structure is that each winner enters with one companion. As a result, the communication and coordination of judgment between the two people affect the outcome just as much as individual ability. The factory environment, filled with unpredictable mechanisms and choices, creates moments when quick decisions are necessary as well as moments when careful cooperation is advantageous.
Turning a Familiar World into a Competitive Arena
The production team designed the factory with reference to the atmosphere of Dahl's 1964 novel and the 1971 film 《Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory》. The series transforms the space from a backdrop for the story into an arena where the rules of the game operate. The Oompa-Loompas, with orange faces and green hair, also appear, and Rusty Goffe, who appeared in the 1971 film, joins the new Oompa-Loompa team.
Production and Release Format
The series was produced by Eureka Productions, part of the Fremantle group, and distributed by Netflix. The schedule, which concludes in two parts one week after its premiere on September 23, allows viewers to experience the early factory exploration and the later final competition separately.
