A VR game coming-of-age story turned around through crafting

In 《Overgeared》, Grid is tormented by debt and his family’s cold gaze in the real world, and seeks a reversal of fortune in the globally popular VR game 〈SATISFY〉. However, even in the game he was an ordinary player until he obtains a legendary item at the end of a high-difficulty quest and becomes the legendary blacksmith, the “Descendant of Pagma.” The second official trailer centers on this turning point, presenting the beginning of a story where how he makes that power his own matters more than the moment he gains it.

Grid chooses equipment crafting instead of leveling up

The price of changing classes is a level reset. Grid starts over in a state that is virtually empty-handed, but breaks through by deciding to make powerful equipment himself if it is difficult to obtain. Unlike game narratives that pursue only numerical increases in combat ability, this work stands apart in making crafting ability itself the foundation and strategy of growth. The setting in which fame and wealth in the game also affect reality adds real-world pressure to Grid’s choices.
