The BBC has unveiled the first images from Doctor Who: TARDIS Crew. Unlike the live-action series, this preschool animation follows a young Time Lord known as the Doctor as they travel through time and space aboard the TARDIS with new companions. It adapts the long-running franchise’s time-travel premise into a standalone adventure format for the CBeebies audience.

New Companions Aboard the TARDIS

The Doctor’s companions are Hannah, Beastie, and Toast-IE. They encounter unfamiliar life-forms and new worlds, and also face the Daleks, the enemies synonymous with Doctor Who. The official introduction describes these adventures as stories in which friendship, cooperation, and quick thinking create change, previewing event-driven plots that preschool children can follow.

A Preschool Whoniverse Told in 52 Episodes

The series will consist of 52 episodes, each running 11 minutes. Production is being handled by Blue Zoo Animation Studio, with Dominic Minns, director of *Mojo Swoptops* and *Supertato*, serving as series director. The series’ core format combines the scale of time travel with the rhythm of problem-solving within short episodes.

Release Timing and Platforms

The series is currently in production and is expected to premiere on CBeebies and BBC iPlayer in late 2027 or early 2028. An exact release date and country-specific scheduling have not yet been announced.
