Paddington, a young bear raised in Peru, comes to London following the stories of an explorer. But when he arrives at Paddington Station, no one is there to meet him, and the sign around his neck reading “Please Look After This Bear” is the only indication of his circumstances. The Brown family takes him in, and the family story of Paddington begins.

The bathroom and kitchen of his unfamiliar new home become stages for Paddington’s adventures as he learns the rules. Small mistakes escalate into chaos that shakes the entire household, but the Brown family is not a perfect community either. The process of family members with different personalities adjusting their way of life alongside their new guest turns the themes of adapting to London and finding a sense of belonging into tangible scenes of everyday life.

Meanwhile, taxidermist Millicent Clyde, who is hunting a rare bear, poses a real threat to Paddington. The more Paddington tries to uncover his past and the reason he came to London, the more the Brown family accepts him not as a temporary guest but as a family member they must protect. Directed by Paul King, the adventure combines live-action London with a digital character, led by Ben Whishaw’s voice performance and appearances by Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, and Nicole Kidman.
