Judgment to Protect the Family

*Bass X Machina* is set in a steam-powered Western where outlaws, machines, and supernatural threats collide. At the center of the story is a father who must become his own judge, jury, and executioner to protect his family. His choice to establish order through violence may stop the immediate threat, but it carries a conflict in which the price of that justice could ultimately be losing the very family he is trying to protect.

The Intersection of the Western and Science Fiction

This work adds machines and supernatural horror to the desolate lawless frontier of the Western genre. Unlike the familiar Western setup, where conflicts are resolved through gunfights and pursuits alone, the protagonist must bear both the burden of his family’s safety and the consequences of the violence he uses. As a result, the central tension lies not only in the nature of the threat, but also in how far “punishment for protection” can be permitted.

Production Team and Release Information

Netflix introduces the work as a series created by LeSean Thomas and has announced that Brian Tyree Henry is participating as an executive producer. Studio Mir is handling the animation, and Netflix’s cast listing includes Brian Tyree Henry, Tati Gabrielle, and Cree Summer. The U.S. Netflix release date is listed as November 3, 2026.
