Seedance 2.5 Draft Mode on Pika

Seedance 2.5 Draft Mode uses a two-stage AI-video workflow: review composition, camera direction, and motion in a 480p draft, then create a 1080p final render. It can reduce high-resolution rerenders

Seedance 2.5 Draft Mode is a feature that separates ‘when to run the final render’ for AI video. First, check in a 480p preview whether the prompt properly reflects the scene composition, subject movements, and camera directions, then complete only the selected result in 1080p. Pika currently offers Seedance 2.5 in its video model lineup and developer platform.

Previews are for review, final versions are for delivery

The draft stage is suited to quickly finding errors in framing, movement, and scene progression rather than focusing on fine textures. By testing the same prompt and reference materials in several directions and then selecting the best-fitting version, you can reduce the need to accumulate multiple high-resolution results. Conversely, if the composition and instructions are already sufficiently finalized and the first result is likely to be used, generating directly at the final resolution makes the process simpler.

Deciding between 480p and 1080p

The key to Draft Mode is not simply enlarging a low-resolution result, but creating a 1080p result based on settings that have passed review. Accordingly, it is efficient to check the subject’s position, camera movement, and the combined state of reference images, videos, and audio in the preview, then select only the scenes that need delivery resolution at the final stage.

Using it to fit the production workflow

Projects involving advertising previews or comparisons of multiple hooks and angles are well suited to narrowing down candidates at 480p and producing only the approved version in high resolution. On the other hand, for tasks with few revisions, such as quick social clips, the benefit of separating the draft and final versions may not be as significant. Seedance 2.5 supports videos up to 30 seconds long and text, image, video, and audio reference inputs, so Draft Mode can be especially useful as a pre-review stage for scenes with many reference elements.
