The film is set in 1977. According to Netflix’s introduction, Brad Pitt once again plays Cliff Booth, with the story unfolding in a Hollywood that has changed since his previous appearance. The film is categorized as a drama-comedy set against a period backdrop and centered on the show-business environment.

Fincher Directs, Tarantino Writes

David Fincher directs, while Quentin Tarantino wrote the screenplay. Since Fincher is directing a character created by Tarantino, the character’s continuity and the film’s directorial sensibility are distinguished according to the roles of their respective creators. The production team also includes cinematographer Erik Messerschmidt, production designer Donald Graham Burt, and editor Kirk Baxter.

Ensemble Cast and Release Strategy

Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Peter Weller appear alongside Brad Pitt. The IMAX advance release presents the film in theaters before its Netflix premiere, followed by streaming availability to broaden access. Because the two release dates are clearly separated, viewers also have a clear basis for choosing how to watch it.
