Viva Launches ‘Space Cadet’ in Select Theaters (New Trailer)
Kid Koala’s dialogue-free animated feature Space Cadet follows Celeste on her first solo space mission and the robot that raised her after they are separated. Viva Kids is set to release it in select
As Celeste embarks on a space mission alone for the first time, the guardian robot that raised her remains on Earth. *Space Cadet* follows the separation of the two characters, placing the vastness of space and the dangers of the mission on one side, and an empty house and the aging robot’s passage of time on the other. Memories become a clue that helps Celeste navigate the crisis, while for the robot, they become traces that help it endure the relationship it must let go of.
This is the feature directorial debut of Canadian DJ and graphic novelist Kid Koala (Eric San). The screenplay was written by Mylène Chollet, based on his 2011 graphic novel of the same name, and the story is told through music and images without dialogue. The film has a fixed runtime of 86 minutes, and its distinctive approach uses movement and sound rather than words to explain the relationship between Celeste and the robot.
Alongside the release of a new trailer, Viva Kids listed November 13, 2026, as the U.S. theatrical release date for select theaters. This is the U.S. theatrical release schedule for a film produced in 2025, distinct from its earlier festival screenings. Beneath the outward form of a space adventure aimed at family audiences, it explores the moment when independence and the end of caregiving begin at the same time.
