'Messi and the Giants' Teaser Trailer Debuts at Comic-Con Málaga
This animated series executive produced by Lionel Messi follows 12-year-old Leo as he faces giants in the fractured realms of Iko through soccer-like contests. It is slated for a global Disney+ premie
The Starting Point Shown in the Teaser
*Messi and the Giants* unveiled its first teaser at Comic-Con Málaga in Spain. With Lionel Messi serving as an executive producer, the animated series begins when 12-year-old Leo becomes trapped in an alternate reality ruled by giants. The aim is not simply to tell the biography of a soccer star, but to combine an adventure to return home from an unfamiliar world with the rules of soccer.
A Contest Using ‘Orbs’ Instead of a Ball
Leo takes part in high-stakes, soccer-style battles using powerful ‘orbs’ to restore Iko’s fragmented realms. However, Leo does not possess the world’s ‘code abilities’ used by the other participants. The series’ central distinction is that skill, teamwork, and perseverance—not the presence or absence of special powers—determine who wins and loses.
Release Timing and Production Team
Disney+ plans to release the series worldwide in summer 2027, while it will also air on Disney Channel in the United States. However, an exact release date has not yet been announced. Argentine actor Milo Burgess-Webb voices Leo, and Dan Creteur directs. Atlantis Animation is handling the animation production, and the teaser also features Argentine singer Luck Ra’s original theme song ‘Vamos, Vamos, Vamos’.
