The New Simpsons Movie Set for North American Release on September 3, 2027

The long-awaited sequel to 2007's The Simpsons Movie, officially titled The New Simpsons Movie at D23 2026, opens in North America on September 3, 2027.

〈The New Simpsons Movie〉 is the second theatrical film based on Matt Groening's long-running animated series 〈The Simpsons〉 and a sequel to 2007's 〈The Simpsons Movie〉. Production was announced in September 2025 under the working title “The Simpsons 2,” and the official title was revealed at Disney's D23 event in August 2026.

The film is being produced by 20th Television Animation and Gracie Films. The plot has not been revealed, though a work-in-progress animatic showing Homer trying to catch a ball at a baseball stadium was screened at D23.

The release date was initially announced as July 23, 2027, but was moved in December 2025 to September 3, Labor Day weekend.

Distributed by 20th Century Studios, the film will be released in North America on September 3, 2027. A domestic release date has not been announced.
