Demoted to an 8-bit game: Guardians of the Video Game opens October 14
Patch must save an aging 8-bit game's ending. The official trailer and opening teaser for Guardians of the Video Game, opening in South Korea on October 14.
An ace agent about to earn a promotion is abruptly demoted to an aging 8-bit game. Guardians of the Video Game, a Korean animated feature based on Gasfard's NAVER webtoon, opens in South Korean cinemas on October 14, 2026. LOCUS's official main trailer introduces the world behind the game screen.
Patch secretly works backstage to keep games running for their players. A mysterious plot sends him to an old game, where he accidentally throws away a crucial sword while cleaning. A new player then logs in. Patch must guide the hero to the ending and prevent the game's shutdown without revealing the agents' existence.
The main poster splits Patch between a dimensional 3D appearance and a pixel character, visually reflecting the different game worlds. Eom Young-sik directs the LOCUS production. Kim Da-ol, Shin Yong-woo and Kim Yeon-woo voice Patch, Cheat and Publi respectively. The Korean release runs 110 minutes and is rated for ages 12 and above.
LOCUS also released an opening teaser on September 28. It features Beatpella House's new arrangement of Gasfard's original opening song. The trailer introduces the film's premise; the opening teaser offers a separate preview of the music carried over from the webtoon.
