Set in a kingdom thrown into chaos by a sudden war, Asdivine Saga has joined the Crunchyroll Game Vault mobile lineup. The Game Vault version is available exclusively to Crunchyroll Mega and Ultimate Fan members, bringing the party-based combat and fantasy narrative of the original pixel-art JRPG to mobile devices.
Four companions pursuing the forces behind the war
The protagonist is Vyse, a mercenary with a hidden past. He is joined by two princesses with differing perspectives and a ninja named Akane, and together they pursue the dark energy spreading across the kingdom and the forces behind the war. Dialogue choices are connected to trust relationships with companions, individual stories, and multiple endings, allowing choices outside combat to affect progression as well.
Turn-based combat shaped by item combinations
Combat is turn-based, but Akane’s ‘Throw’ attack introduces an element of unpredictability. Items can be combined to produce elemental attacks or weakening effects, so players must consider both the enemy’s condition and the items they possess rather than simply repeating skills with high numerical values. Equipping and developing spirits changes the characters’ elemental magic and also enables the use of the Trust Charge ultimate.
Balancing equipment upgrades and long-term development
Weapon upgrades and ring synthesis are key systems for fine-tuning the party’s stats. After the main story, the game offers a battle arena, additional dungeons, and powerful bosses, with a level cap of 999. The experience combines quickly chaining together short battles with spending time on equipment combinations and spirit development, making the choice between progressing quickly and optimizing combat strength central to the way the game is played.
